The timber used in SheShed’s log cabins is Nordic Spruce which comes from the northernmost parts of Europe, where the climate is cold. This means that the wood grows more slowly, and the annual rings are closer together. This strengthens the timber and makes it of higher quality. The difference between this and other types of timber is visible even when you are just looking at the timber. It is precisely this quality of the timber that is one of the reasons why SheShed’s kitset cabins have such a long service life.
At SheShed we know that you want your wooden kitset shed to last for as long as possible with little maintenance. Therefore, almost all of our kitset cabins come standard with Pressure Treatment. Pressure Treatment gives the wood its best lifespan whilst retaining the excellent natural properties that timber has. This means you do not need to paint your shed if you prefer the natural timber look, and you have peace of mind knowing that it’s pest resistant.

Double glazing is an important part of insulation, which is why all our kitset cabins come standard with double glazed windows and doors. Whether you’re using your kitset cabin for an Art Studio, Granny Flat or Home Office, you’ll be spending a bit of time inside it. With double glazing you’ll not only be more comfortable, but you get more done, thanks to more efficient heating/cooling and reduced noise.
An innovative solution which is unique to SheSheds, the roof insulation kit helps with thermal loss and assists with efficiencies. Timber is a great natural insulator, however if you’re wanting to get the most out of your shed year-round and make your heating/cooling more efficient, you can purchase additional roof insulation kits for all sheds. The easy to install, roof insulation kit includes all the required components to install the insulation to the roof of your cabin, and gives your roof system an insulation rating of up to R3.3.
